DHAKA: Miscreants shot at businessman and snatched Tk 16 lakh from him at Nawbabbari Pukurpar of city’s Islampur area on Thursday.

The victim, a fruits trader Badal Miah, 40, told banglanews that some miscreants opened fire at him in the area around 2:15pm when he was going to a private bank with the money.

Badal fell on the street as he was shot in the leg. Then the miscreants snatched the money and fled the spot immediately.

Another trader Nazrul Islam said they rushed Badal to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Kotwali Thana sub-inspector (SI) Shakil Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
