SUNAMGANJ: Six people were killed and two others injured as lightning struck them at different places of three upazilas of the district on Friday.

The incidents happened in South Sunamganj, Jamalganj and Derai upazilas some times between afternoon and evening of the day.

The deceased were identified as Jewel, 17, of Thakurbugh of South Sunamganj, Bandhan Mian, 19, of Fenarbag Gajaria of Jamalganj, Ganedra Das, 60, of Rananarchar, Jamshed Mian, 45, Bharargaon, Milad Mian, 20, of Debpur, and Shamshul Haque of Nagdipur Chaihara of Derai upazila.

The inured were identified Abu Taher, 30, of Shantipur and, Faruk Mian, 30, of Faijullahpur of Derai upazila. They were underwent treatment at different local hospitals.

Officer-In-Charges of the local thanas separately confirmed the matter to banglanews.
