SIRAJGANJ: At least three people were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Baniagati area under Kamarkhand upazila of the district early Saturday.

All of the deceased were women, one identified as China Khatunm 20, wife of Belal Hossain of Patharghata village under Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram district.

Police and local sources said that the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Anik Paribahan collided with a truck on the western-side connecting road of Bangabandhu Bridge in the area around 2:30am, leaving two women dead on the spot and 16 other people injured.

Of the injured, seven were taken to the district sadar hospital while the others were admitted at different local clinics. Among them, a woman succumbed to her injuries at the sadar hospital.

Bangabandhu Bridge West Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Helaluddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
