2 held with gold, cigarettes at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBN) personnel detained two passengers and seized four gold bars, 83 cartoons of foreign cigarettes and 100 pieces of scurf at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Saturday morning.

The detainees were identified as Omar Farukh, 48, and Abul Bahsar, 50.

APBN assistant superintendent of police (media) Tanzina Akhtar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Tanzina said that the passengers arrived at the airport from Malaysia by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in the morning.

APBN members searched them on suspicion after they had entered the canopy crossing airport green channel, recovered the gold, cigarettes and scurf from their possession and nabbed them.

A case was filed with Airport Thana in this connection, added Tanzina.
