BARISAL: A Barisal court on Sunday sentenced life term for seven people for killing Advocate Gias Uddin Masud.
Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik passed the sentence at noon.
The convicted are Quamrul Islam Khan, 40, son of one Sultan Hossain; Monirul Islam, 35, son of one Abdur Rob Khan; Al Amin Sikder Rony, son of Hemayet Uddin Sikder, hailed from Kachuakathi area of Pirojpur; Mizanur Rahman Jamaddar, 35, hailed from Dakkhin Jainkathi; Rezaul Talukder, 25, son of one Modasser Ali Talukder, hailed from Purba Amraghuni; and Sohrab Khan and Azizul Haque Khokon.
Of the convicted, Quamrul Islam Khan, Monirul Islam and Rezaul Talukder were present in the court.
Meanwhile, the court also released three others as they were found innocent.
Court sources said on October 12 of 2009, the convicted shot dead Advocate Gias Uddin Masud to snatch money from him. Later, police recovered the body from Kawkhali Bailey Bridge area.
Deceased’s brother Al Amin Khan filed a lawsuit with Kawkhali Police Station against 10.
Police submitted investigation report on September 27 of 2011.
Prosecutor AKM Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
