DHAKA: At least 25 Bangladeshis are feared dead in a boat capsize on Mediterranean Sea off Libya’s coast.

Authoritative source from the foreign ministry confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Besides, the source also confirmed the incident of rescuing a Bangladeshi national alive that was reported in international media, in that illegal migrants filled boat capsize.

Quoting the honorary consul of Bangladesh embassy in Italy, a director general of foreign ministry, choosing not to publish his name, on Tuesday morning said the Bangladeshi citizen was under treatment in Italy.

They are yet to disclose the citizen’s name and identity, he added.

Authoritative source of Italy confirmed the Bangladeshi consul that 25/30 Bangladeshis were on the boat.

UN said at least 800 people died in that boat capsize. It also confirmed that the Italian authorities detained two persons for their alleged involvement with the human trafficking.
