DHAKA: At least two people were killed, dozens injured and several buildings including three in the capital damaged-tilted after massive earthquake and aftershocks felt across the country.
A former lady school teacher died of cardiac arrest in Pabna during the quake. while a worker was killed and over a hundred workers mostly female were injured during rush for quake panic in a garment at Savar, outskirt of capital Dhaka.
A multi-storey building of an industrial group in Sreepur Upazila of the district has been tilted due to the strong earthquake that jolted the country.
Besides, reporters from across the country reported damage in several buildings and dozens injured in the rush.
A massive earthquake has hit Bangladesh, Nepal and north and north-east India on Saturday noon.
United States Geological Survey said a 7.9-magnitude of earthquake jolted Lamjung, 81 kilometer north-west of Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal, at 12:11:25pm Bangladesh time.
At same time, tremor was felt at different parts of Bangladesh and India.
There are reports of tremors from Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Sylhet, Gazipur and several other parts of Bangladesh and Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh and other cities of India.
Several buildings have reportedly been collapsed in different parts of Katmandu. However, the degree of causality could not be accounted immediately.
