DHAKA: The Election Commission (RC) is set to ensure a tight security for Dhaka North, South and Chittagong city corporation polls with deployment of some 78,730 members of different law enforcement agencies, sources concerned said.
Voting to Dhaka South, Dhaka North and Chittagong city corporations is scheduled to be held on April 28 (Tuesday).
EC secretary Mohammad Sirajul Islam, on Saturday, told banglanews that a large number of lawpersons will remain deployed on poll-duty in Dhaka and Chittagong from Sunday to Tuesday.
According to EC sources, mobile teams of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Armed Police Battalion (APBn), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Coast Guard, Anssar will patrol across the poll area.
Some 268 teams of RAB, 100 platoons of BGB, 268 joint team of police coast guard and Ansar, and seven platoons of Coast Guard will work for three city corporations,
Besides, some 66 teams comprised with police, APBn and Asnsar will remained deployed as striking force in the poll areas.
Three battalions of army will also take position in the cantonments, located in the cities, as striking forces, the sources added.
EC sources also said that, along with other forces, some 67,525 members of police and Ansar will be deployed on poll-duty.
A team of 22 lawpersons will take position at a normal voting central while some 24 lawperson will be posted at a risky poll centre, the sources added.
A total of 6,029,576 voters, however, will cast their ballots in the polls, indicating that a lawperson against some 76 voters will remain posted during the polls.
