Jeddah consulate’s MRP service even on weekends

RIYADH: Bangladesh Consulate General office in Jeddah will remain open even on holidays to carry out issuance of Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia.

The Jeddah office took the initiatives as International Aviation Authorities gave a term that none can fly without MRP after November 24 in 2015.

Consul general of Jeddah Consulate AKM Shahidul Karim told banglanews that the enrolment service of MRP will remain open from 8:00am to 4:00pm everyday of the week.

He said beside the consulate office, five units of a mobile team have been serving in Bangladeshi colonized areas in the country in facilitating the issuance of the new MRP and in next week, they will be in Tabuk area.

Officers of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh and its consulate in Jeddah have been working hard to provide MRPs to the Bangladeshis within the stipulated period, Shahidul Karim added.

He also informed that the embassy is processing the MRPs for more than 600 people daily. Though, the consulate has capacity to enroll MRPs for more people.
