Relief goods to reach Nepal thru’ Banglabandha

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday categorically said that Bangladesh will send relief materials to quake-hit Nepal through Banglabandha Land Port.

The PM made the assertion at the inaugural session of an international conference on vocational training at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in city.

Manila-based Colombo Plan Staff College and Institutions of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh are jointly organizing the 3-day conference on the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in sustainable development.

On the recent earthquake in Nepal, the premier said, ‘We have already sent relief materials for Nepal victims. But more goods are needed for them’.

‘We are also taking more initiatives,’ the PM said adding, ‘Our airports are being kept ready for the international relief flights for Nepalese’.

On land route, she said that her government has already talked to the India government regarding the transportation of relief goods to Nepal through Bangladesh’s Banglabandha Land Port (after crossing a short distance of Indian territories to Nepal border).
