DHAKA: The Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Arjun Bahadur Thapa on Thursday expressed his heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Nepal for the loss of lives and properties in the earthquake.
He called on the Nepal foreign minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and expressed his condolences, says a press release issued by SAARC secretariat in Kathmandu of Nepal.
Thapa also condoled for “the colossal damages caused to the world cultural heritages sites of Nepal as a result of the disastrous earthquake that hit Nepal of April 25 and 26”.
The SAARC secretary also handed over a receipt voucher of the contribution made by all employees of the SAARC secretariat to Pandey for the Nepal Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, constituted to provide relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected people, it added.
Thapa also signed the condolence book at the foreign ministry and wished eternal peace for the departed souls.
