DHAKA: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, honorary information and technology affairs adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Saturday hoped the young forces will move the country forward with their talent and creativity.

Mentioning Bangladesh moving forward, he opined that the youth with their talent, creativity and new ideas would take the country forward.

Joy came up with the observations while addressing ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award Ceremony’ at Krishibid Institute auditorium in city.

He also said, “I feel pleased whenever I see the youth of our country are not thinking about their job or business enterprises to gain something personally”.

“Instead, they are thinking about the country, its people, for the poor, for the specially-able persons and for those who are lagging behind. I believe these youth will take Bangladesh forward,” he added.

“Our target is not only to make the country to turn into a middle income country by 2021, but also to make it a developed nation within 2041 and I believe the youth can achieve it,” he added.

The IT expert also called on the youth to build the country following the spirit of liberation war.

Mentioning about the post-1975 days Joy said there was a time when the youth were ashamed of ‘Joy Bangla’ slogan as they were kept afar from the true history of the war.

“Joy Bangla is not the slogan of Awami League only, it was the slogan of our liberation war,” he added.

He also put emphasis on spreading the true history of liberation war to the youth.

Later, Joy handed over laptops, crests and certificates to 30 youth achievers, who were selected from different parts of the country for their respective contributions to research, entrepreneurship and in socio-cultural sector.

Centre for Research and Information (CRI) selected 60 youth in specific categories out of 1,469 across the country. The rest 30 were given a handset each.

CRI created the ‘Young Bangla’ platform that gives ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ in 10 categories to inspire country’s youth in innovation and creativity to connect them with the national development process.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Science and Technology Yafes Osman, State Minister for ICT affairs Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Women and Children affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Tarana Halim MP, convener of ‘Young Bangla’ Naim Razzaque MP, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Abul Kalam Azad, secretary of Social Welfare ministry Nasima Begum, Executive Director of CRI Sabbir Bin Shams and Executive Director of Suchinta Foundation Mohammad A Arafat, among others, were present at the ceremony.
