GAZIPUR: A fire broke out at ‘Transworld Bicycle’, a concern of Meghna group, in Bagher bazaar area in Sadar upazila of the district Saturday noon.

Fire Service authorities said 10 units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after trying for around three and a half hours. The blaze originated at the establishment around 1:45pm, he added.

Meanwhile, authorities allegedly took signs of workers on non-judicial stamp papers before the fire broke out.

Assistant Superintendent of Police of Gazipur Sadar circle Monowar Hossain said the reason of fire is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, competent sources said that unit of Meghna Group was debt-ridden.
