UAE round up hundreds of illegal immigrants

DUBAI: The security authorities of Dubai in separate drives detained at least 1,000 illegal immigrants from Bangla Bazar, China Market, Bangla Channel and Fish Market in the city of United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The detainees were kept in Dubai, Al Abir, Al Baraha, Al Murakkabad and other jails of the kingdom.

Sources said a few days ago, the security personnel tried to nab some Bangladeshis. But they fled the spot hurting a police officer in Dubai’s Bangla Channel area.

Earlier on Saturday, Dubai’s security officers detained over 1,500 expatriates from Dera Bazar area and kept them at Al Abir Jail.

The expatriate Bangladeshis said for illegal activities of some Bangladeshis, legal immigrants are also facing harassment as well as the image of Bangladesh is being tarnished day by day.
