DHAKA: Customs authorities detained a man along with huge amount of foreign currencies worth about Tk 75 lakhs from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday night.

Details about the detainee was not disclosed for the sake of interrogation.

Customs sources said the man was scheduled to leave for Singapore. Officials held him during the check-in at gate No. 4 of the airport at 8:00pm and recovered 3.73 lakh Saudi Riyal, 600 US dollars and 46 Singapore dollars.

The seized foreign currencies are worth about Tk 75 lakh.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation directorate assistant commissioner M Riaydul Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
