DHAKA: Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dhaka Range) Khandaker Golam Farukh claimed that the members of Ansarullah Bangla Team are involved in Savar bank robbery.

He made the claim at a press conference in Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre in city Tuesday noon.

Golam Farukh said a militant organization tried to rob the bank to collect money to continue their activities.

Earlier on April 21, a notorious bank robbery turned bloody as the miscreants shot dead seven people including the bank manager in Ashulia Industrial Area in Savar.

Later, angry mob beat to death one of the robbers while they were escaping with about Tk 35 lakh in broad daylight. Locals also handed over a robber to the police, but the rest managed to flee the scene.
