DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a phone call to his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Thursday evening after passing awaited Land Boundary Agreement bill.
In a tweet the India Premier said, “Spoke to Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and conveyed my greetings to the people of Bangladesh on this landmark occasion.”
He also tweeted after bill pass saying, “Today a historic milestone has been reached in India-Bangladesh relations after the passing of the Constitutional Amendment by Parliament.
The Amendment passed ensures a permanent settlement of land boundary with Bangladesh & resolution of long-pending boundary issues.
This would contribute to a stable &peaceful boundary, better management & coordination of the border &will lead to enhanced security as well
My thanks to all the political parties for their cooperation, as also to the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura & West Bengal.”
The historic LBA bill passed in Indian Lok Sabha to redraw the India-Bangladesh border.
