GAZIPUR: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday said it proves that Bangladesh is benefited from the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) with India.

The Prime Minister said her previous governments did not talk about the land boundary agreement. In 1996, her government raised the issue for a deal. As a result, land protocol was signed with India in 2011.

“We get a part of Feni from India which will be included in BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s constituency. It proves that Bangladesh is benefited. We have got a large area of land,” she added.

Thanking the nation, the premier said it was possible to do as they gave mandate to Awami League (AL) to assume power for second consecutive term.

It could not happen if AL did not come to power, she added.

Earlier on Thursday, India Lok Sabha unanimously passed the 119th constitution amendment bill to implement the much-awaited Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh to settle the four-decade-old border disputes and exchange enclaves on either side of the border.

The Prime Minister addressed a program on the occasion of the 16th founding anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur in the day.

After arriving on the campus, she inaugurated 10 establishments of BSMRAU including Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall, Ila Mitra Hall, Sufia Kamal auditorium, Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed hall, Dr Wazed Mia central research center.
