DHAKA: Customs authorities detained a man along with six gold bars from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport of the city early Thursday.

The detainee was identified as Humayan Kabir, 45, hails from Comilla.

Assistant Commissioner of Airport Customs M Alamin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the customs authorities, on suspicion, searched Alamin who reached Dhaka with a Malaysian Airlines at midnight and recovered six gold bars weighting 1.88 kg from Alamin’s shoes.

Legal actions will be taken against Alamin, the assistant commissioner added.
