SUNAMGANJ: Two people were killed after being hit by thunderbolt at Shimulbak and Laxmipur villages of the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Syed Miah, 30, son of late Kaptan Miah of Gazinagar village under South Sunamganj upazila and Lutfur Rahman, 45, son of Abdus Sobhan of Laxmipur village.

Locals said a lightning bolt struck Syed came while he was working at the field in Shimulbak village of the upazila around 7:45am.

On the same time, Lutfar was critically injured by thunderbolt while taking the cattle in the field in Laxmipur village of the area.

South Sunamganj Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Al Amin confirmed the matter.

Locals rushed him to the Jamalganj Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.
