DHAKA: Law enforcers detained six fake detective branch (DB) of police officials from Badda area in city Tuesday morning.

The detained are M Alauddin, 35, M Selim, 32, M Zahangir, 45, M Emdad, 32, Nikul, 27 and Masuma Akhter, 27.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relation division SM Zahangir confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said an unidentified person mistakenly sent Tk 200 as flexi-load to Sadhon Chandra Das’ mobile phone. Later, Sadhon returned the money as that person called him and requested to return the money.

Once again the person repeated the matter but this time only the amount increased to Tk 300. Meanwhile, a relationship was built up between them.

Later on April 4, that person brought Sadhon to Dhaka and kept him enclosed. They identified themselves to Sadhon’s wife as DB officials and demanded more money after taking Tk 200,000 from her.

Police detained the fake DB officials when the family members informed police about it, he added.
