DHAKA UNIVERSITY (DU): Death threat issued to Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) AAMS Arefin Siddique, Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam and Ganajagaran Mancha spokesman Imran H Sarker among 10 noted individuals.

A letter written in English allegedly was sent by ‘Alkaida - Ansarullah Bangla Team-13’ through postal services on Wednesday.

Arefin Siddique and Imran H Sarker confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The letter said “Must you will prepare for dead” and then listed 10 names serially.

The first name of the list is HT Imam and they termed him as ‘Anti Islam, Adviser’.

Arefin Siddique is in second position and they wrote ‘I, Dusmon, VC’.

The others are MP Tarana Halim, Jagannath Hall Provost Ashim Sarker, Imran H Sarker, DU teacher Kaberi Gayen, Bikash Saha, Iqbalur Rahim , Paltan Sutar and Zafar Iqbal.

DU VC urged detective branch to give importance the matter and arrest the culprits.

DU Proctor professor AM Amzad said a general diary (GD) was filed in the matter with Shahbagh Thana.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of the thana Sirajul Islam also confirmed the matter.

The envelop of the letter was contained Dhaka GPO seal and two tickets of Tk 2.
