Indefinite transport strike in Bandarban from Sunday

BANDARBAN: District transport owners and workers announced an indefinite transport strike protesting the vandalism and assaulting workers.

Bandarban Paribahan Malik-Shramik Oikyo Parishad, an organization of transport owners and workers, general secretary Subrata Kanti Das made the announcement on Thursday noon.

The organizers said that a group of agitated people of Pahari Chhatra Parishad assaulted transport workers and vandalized four vehicles as a protest of their leader’s shot-injuries in Roangchhari of the district on Tuesday.

Transport communication to and from Bandarban, Roangchhari, Baghmara, Thanchi, Ruma and Rangamati will remain halted during the strike, they added.
