COMILLA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined the inauguration program on the occasion of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 116th birth anniversary in Comilla district on Monday afternoon.

A helicopter carrying the premier landed in Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium of the district at 4:00pm.

She is set to inaugurate the poet’s birthday celebration program at Town Hall auditorium.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor will chair the program, to be attended by planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, railway minister Mujibul Haque, Comilla-6 constituency MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar and Nazrul Institute Trustee Board president Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam, among others.

However, people are in a festive mode to celebrate the anniversary of the national poet.

Local administration, cultural activists, Awami League and its associate organization leaders and activists are attending the program.

A four-tire security measures have been taken to avert any unwanted situation during her tour.

District information officer Mir Hosssain Ahsanul Kabir said a three-day program has been chalked out in celebrating the rebel poet Nazrul’s birth anniversary from Monday.

During the visit, the premier will also inaugurate 17 development projects worth of Tk 143.34-crore in the district.
