DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Nation paid tribute to national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 116th birth anniversary across the country on Monday.
People from all walks of life including of socio-cultural organizations placed wreaths on the tomb of the poet on Dhaka University (DU) premises on Monday morning.
Family members of the poet, DU teachers and students, cultural affairs ministry, ruling Awami League leaders and activists, BNP and activist of other political and socio-cultural organizations paid tribute to the poet.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor said literary works of poet Nazrul has been inspiring the nation in fighting social injustice.
DU vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said the poet is always contemporary. ‘We take shelter to his literary works whenever we face any crisis.’
The poet’s granddaughter Khilkhil Kazi hoped that Nazrul study will be increased in the country.
