PM vows to build strong air force

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday vowed to build Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) as a strategically strong force through modernization.

The premier came up with the determination while addressing a program on occasion of induction of the three L-410 transport-training aircrafts in the air force at BAF Base Bashar in city in the morning.

PM Hasina said; “Awami League government has always given special importance to welfare and development of the BAF personnel all of its tenures and will continue to do so.”

“Through reform and modernization, we will be able to build a strategically strong, powerful and effective air force by the golden jubilee of country’s independence,’ she added.

Regarding the induction of new aircrafts, the premier said that in line with development, these three L-410 training aircrafts have been added to the fleet of the air force.

Earlier, pilots of cargo jet were trained in PT-6 and T-37 aircrafts that was too expensive. Inclusion of L-410 aircraft will decrease the volume of expense now, she added.

She went on saying; “Now pilots of freight planes will take trainings like the developed countries’ air forces. As this (L410) has more facilities, relief works can be possible in remote areas during disastrous period.”

L410 aircraft will carry out search and rescue operation, patrol, Para trooping, and air survey to bring capability of BAF to the world level, the premier hopped.
