DHAKA: Forbes magazine has published the list of World’s 100 Most Powerful Women of 2015.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ranked 59th on the Forbes list. She was ranked 47th last year.
German chancellor Angela Merkel was ranked as the World’s Most Powerful Woman and former US first lady Hilary Clinton became second in the last.
The top 10 ladies include Melinda Gates, Janet Yellen, Mary Barra, Christine Lagarde, Dilma Rousseff, Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Wojcicki and Michelle Obama.
The extraordinary entrepreneurs and visionary CEOS, celebrity role models and billionaire activists, foremost heads of state and pioneer philanthropists who are transforming the world includes the Forbes list.
From a preliminary group of over 300 candidates from around the world, Forbes selects the 100 most influential women from eight categories or power bases: billionaires, business, celebrity, finance, media, philanthropy and intergovernmental organizations, politics and technology.
To determine the rank within each category, as well as overall rank on the list of 100, the international magazine applies four metrics: money, media presence, spheres of influence and impact.
