Passenger dies after being thrown off bus

GAZIPUR: Conductor and helper allegedly killed a 25-year-old passenger and injured his brother by throwing them off the bus over fare dispute at Chandana intersection of the district Wednesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sujit Roy, 25, son of one Nikhil Chandra Roy, hailed from Gavindasree village under Madan upazila of Netrokona district.

Local sources said two passengers were thrown out of a Dhaka-bound bus at Chandana intersection, leaving them injured.

Later, local people seized the bus and taken the injured brothers to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College where Sujit Roy succumbed to his injuries.

Titu Roy, brother of the deceased said in a stage of altercation over fare, the bus conductor and helper thrown them out of the bus after beating them up.

Salna Highway Thana police sergeant Mizanur Rahman said the driver Dulal Mia of the bus was detained.

“We are processing to file a case,” he added.
