DHAKA: Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal visited Kolkata to watch final match of Indian Premier League (IPL) on May 24 at the invitation of Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

On arrival at Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Jagmohan Dalmiya welcomed the former president of International Cricket Council (ICC).

Earlier, a massive spat erupted between Kamal and ICC chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan, after the Indian presented the World Cup to winners Australia at Melbourne on March 29. Kamal quit his position in the ICC on his return to the country.

The discomfort cloud was removed with Mustafa Kamal’s visit to Kolkata at the invitation of Indian cricket board president.

During the visit of the planning minister, Jagmohan Dalmiya termed the cricket ties between the two countries a very strong and deep one. He assured Mustafa Kamal of sending a full-strength squad of India to tour Bangladesh.

The BCCI chief also said, “I assure you that Indian cricket team will visit Bangladesh.”

Getting assurance of Indian cricket team’s tour to Bangladesh, the planning minister thanked the Indian cricket board president.

He said that cricket ties between India and Bangladesh was strong in the past, continue in present and will be stronger in the future.

Its continuation, Jagmohan Dalmiya on Wednesday sent a letter to AHM Mustafa Kamal with some intimate pictures of the two. Letters and pictures arrived in the hands of the minister on Friday.

In the letter, Dalmia thanked Mustafa Kamal for having accepted their invitation at such a short notice and taking time away from his (Kamal) extremely busy schedule.

“It was indeed our pleasure that you could join us in our celebrations as we concluded yet another successful edition of the IPL,” the BCCI boss also said.
