GAZIPUR: An 18-year-old worker of Pran-RFL group was raped allegedly by her two colleagues in a boat on Shitalkshya River under Kaliganj Upazila of the district Wednesday night.

Police, however, arrested two accused-- M Faruk, 22, and Sharif Miah, 25 --for allegedly raping a fellow worker.

Kaliganj Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews Friday noon.

Police said when the boat, carrying the workers including the girl, reached Nargana Ghat of the river, boatmen Al Amin, 25, and Fahim Miah, 22, of Moktarpur village took her in a silent place and raped her.

Later, they kept her to other boatmen Faruk and Sharif. The duo also raped her and fled the spot.

On Wednesday morning, locals spotted the victim and informed police. Police sent her to the hospital.

After taking the statement from the victim, the law enforcers conducted a drive and arrested Faruk and Sharif.

Police filed a case in this connection and produced the arrestees before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
