Dhaka: Police on Thursday midnight raided six student dormitories at Jahangirnagar University and the night’s expedition ended up with the recovery of a toy pistol and some machetes.
 
Campus sources said a police team, led by Dhaka district Police Super Iqbal Bahar, conducted the raid at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hall, Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall, Bhasani Hall, Al Beruni Hall, Shaheed Salam Barkat Hall and AFM Kamal Uddin Hall.

Students said the two-hour-long drive that began at 12 midnight proved to be “a futile exercise as the information about the hunt was leaked in the evening”.

The Additional SP said the dorms were raided as part of their regular search operation.
