DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day visit.

During his maiden tour to Dhaka, the Indian premier will meet his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina for five phases and spent 3 hours and 35 minutes with her.

Narendra Modi will also spend 1 hour and 45 minutes with Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid.

Sheikh Hasina will welcome her Indian counterpart on arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:15am by a flight of Air India One.

Narendra Modi will be also given red carpet reception and special guard of honor.

The Indian premier will also pay tributes to martyrs of the 1971 liberation war at the National Martyrs’ Memorial and will visit Bangabandhu National Museum and pay tributes to the great Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Modi will stay at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel after coming from Dhanmondi.

In the afternoon, Narendra Modi will begin his busy schedules. Part of this, he will meet Sheikh Hasina around 3:45pm.

He will flag off bus services on Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala and Dhaka-Shillong-Guwahati routes, along with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

During the visit, several agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed between two countries.

India’s West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is set to arrive in Dhaka Friday night as part of the upcoming visit of Narendra Modi.

A 42-member Indian delegation has arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday night to attend the singing ceremony of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) in Dhaka.

The delegation, led by West Bengal’s Housing and Youth Services minister Aroop Biswas, also included seven high officials, eight associates of the minister and 27 journalists. The delegation is scheduled to leave for India by road on June 7.
