DHAKA: Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Cambodia, Saida Muna Tasneem, presented her credentials to HM King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia.
The ceremony was held at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh of the country on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Ambassador conveyed to King Sihamoni, son of late King Norodom Sihanouk, the greetings and good wishes of President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh.
King Sihamoni, former Ambassador of Cambodia to UNESCO and the UN, praised the excellent ties shared between Bangladesh and Cambodia bilaterally and multilaterally and recalled his father King Norodom Sihanouk’s affinity towards Bangladesh and its Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He mentioned that immense opportunities exist to further strengthen the ties between the two friendly countries, particularly in the field of agriculture and economic development.
Ambassador Tasneem also called on the Secretary General of the Federation of Cambodian Chamber of Commerce Mr. Nguon Mengtech and stressed the importance of creating joint chambers between private sectors and businessmen of the two countries to expedite understanding of each others’ trade and investment potentials.
