CHITTAGONG: Forty more BNP leaders and activists got released in bail in Chittagong district on Thursday.
However, police arrested around 300 people in a drive conducted at Nasiman Bhaban in the port city on January 5 in a case of crating violence.
Earlier, 136 BNP men got released in bail in the same case.
Chittagong Central Jail deputy jailer Mohammad Monirul Islam told banglanews that 40 people have got released from jail as they received a bail order on Wednesday.
The arrestees gathered in front of Nasiman Bhaban to attend a protest rally organized by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Members of BNP’s key-alliance Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir locked into clashes with police. Later, law enforcers conducted drives against the protesters and arrested around 300 people from the area.
