PM leaves for London Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left Dhaka for London on Friday morning on a six-day personal visit.

A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying the premier and her entourage, took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:02am.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, and chiefs of three forces saw off the premier there.

Earlier on June 9, newly elected British MP Tulip Siddiq, who is also Hasina's niece, said that, during the visit, Hasina will spend time with her sister Sheikh Rehana’s family members and undergo an eye treatment there.

The premier, who is also the president of Awami League (AL), will be accorded a reception in London on June 14 by the expatriate Bangladeshis for her achievements in implementation of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) with India, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury told banglanews on Thursday.

The premier is scheduled to return home on June 17.
