SARIAKANDI, BOGRA: At least 50-meter of flood control dam broke down by upstream due to increase of water level in the Jamuna river in Hawrakhali Dolipara area under Sariakandi upazila of the district Friday afternoon.
Kamalpur Union Parishad Chairman professor Mokhleser Rahman told banglanews that over 150 houses are at risk of submerge.
Deputy divisional engineer Abdul Motaleb of Water Development Board Sariakandi branch said Bangladesh Navy has been constructing the dam with a cost of Tk 20-crore and 70 percent work of the dam has already been finished.
Kamalpur union and adjacent lower land of Dhunat upazila will go under water as the dam broke down.
