Father, son among 3 burnt in factory fire

DHAKA: Three people, including a man and his son, sustained burn injuries, as a fire broke out at a shoe factory in Shikkatuli area of Bangshal in city early Saturday.

The victims were identified as Salauddin, 60, owner of the factory, his son Banti, 2, and Nazim Uddin, 16, an employee.

Police sources said, originated around 1:30am, the fire soon engulfed the entire shoe factory, located on the first floor of house no. 14 in the area, leaving three injured.

The injured were admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Of them, Salauddin received burns to his hands, chest and back while Banti sustained injuries to his face and Nazim to his left hand and face.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge Assistant Sub-Inspector Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the reason behind the fire could not be known. No large-scale damage occurred as the fire was doused immediately.
