CHITTAGONG: Two college students were run over by a truck in city gate area under Akber Shah Thana of the port city on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Wahid and Shamim, BBA first year students of Mostafa Hakim Degree College in Uttar Kattali area.

Following the accident, agitated locals put barricade on the street on the port city entry point, causing a tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

City police Doublemooring Zone Assistant Commissioner Hasan Molla told banglanews that a speedy truck ran over the duo near to city gate while they were getting down from bus in front of their college around 10:45am, leaving on e dead on the spot and another on injured.

The injured was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

CMCH police outpost naik Jahangir Alam told banglanews that Wahid amd Shamim both were brought to the hospital. However, Wahid had died before he had been taken to hospital.

Later, duty doctor declared Shamim dead.
