BARISAL: Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on Saturday morning announced a ban on the movement of vessels under 65 feet in the internal routes of Barisal district due to rough weather.

The ban will continue till the further notice.

Barisal river port naval security and traffic department deputy director Mohammad Abul Bashar Majumdar said that the ban has been announced to avoid any accident due to the ongoing bad weather in the area during the monsoon.

The ban will be applicable for the light vessels, under 65 feet, he added.

Moreover, the other motor vessels masters have been advised to proceed with caution so that they can take shelter in safe places during rough weather.
