DHAKA: The hearing of a case filed by Moosa Bin Shamser will be held at a Switzerland court on June 15 (Monday).
Tony Blair Associates, a farm established by former Prime Minister of UK Tony Blair, along with three other organizations, is moving for Moosa while the Swiss bank has its own lawyers.
In 2008, a Swiss bank seized an account of Moosa that had US $12 billion (around Tk 93,600-crore) at that time. Later in that year, he filed a case against the bank to get back his money.
The hearing will be held on June 15, six years after filing the case.
However, Moosa is expecting to win the case.
Moosa's manpower export office ‘DATCO Limited’ deputy general manager ATM Mahbub Morshed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He further said the hearing was shifted to June 15 from December 15 of 2014.
DATCO manager Minhazur Rahman Chowdhury said they will win if the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh helps them.
“He (Moosa) will invest the total money if he gets it back. It will bring positive changes in country’s economy,” Minhaz added.
On April 7, Moosa Bin Shamser submitted his 16-page wealth report to ACC through his lawyer Nur Hossain. The report said Swiss bank seized his 12 billion USD (around Tk 93,600-crore) along with jewelries worth Tk 90-crore.
According to Moosa, the ACC officials said that his account is a joint account and he has a ‘Deed of Agreement’ that forbade him from talking about the number of persons and the amount of their money in the account.
Currently, ACC is looking into the source of his wealth.
Moosa is known in the world media as ‘Prince Moosa’ for leading a luxurious life. The international news media know him as an arms trader. According to the Forbes magazine, he has been branded as one of the leading 10 arms traders of 2014.
Born on October 15 of 1950 in Faridpur, Moosa started his business career through his manpower export company ‘DATCO’.
According to DATCO sources, Moosa is now fully involved in his manpower business and passing his time either at his office or at his residence ‘The Palace’ on Road no. 84 of Gulshan in city.
