DHAKA: A couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from a ceiling fan in Anandanagar area under Badda Thana of the city Sunday noon.

The deceased were identified as Shahin, 30, and his wife Rubi, 26, lived in a rented house in the area.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Thana Abdul Jalil confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said Shahin and Rubi committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling fan in their residence around 12:15pm.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue.

The reason of the suicide could not be known immediately, the OC added.
