SAVAR (DHAKA): A doctor was killed as an oil-laden truck run over him in Namabazar area in Savar upazila of Dhaka district Tuesday noon.

The decease has been identified as Harunur Rashid, 60.

Police said a soybean oil-laden truck rammed into Harun when he was standing beside the road in the area at noon.

Locals rushed him to the nearest Enam Medical College and Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.

After the accident, locals seized the truck, however, its driver and helper managed to flee the spot immediately.

A case has been filed in this connection, police added.
