FROM GHUMDHUM BORDER: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members brought back 37 Bangladeshi trafficking victims whom the Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar rescued.
BGP members handed over to the BGB members after a flag meeting between two sides held at Dhekubnia BGP camp around 11:00pm for facilitating the return of Bangladesh nationals.
Cox’s Bazar 17 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Saiful ALam Khandaker led the 10-member Bangladesh delegation.
Sources said the rescued Bangladeshis were taken to Cox’s Bazar cultural center.
On May 21, Myanmar Navy officials rescued 208 illegal immigrants from their sea. Of the rescued, they claimed, 200 were Bangladeshis.
Later on June 8, Bangladesh brought back 150 migrants after identifying them as Bangladeshis.
Out of rest 58, 37 were later identified as Bangladeshis, whom the authorities concerned brought back Friday.
