JOYPURHAT: A man allegedly hacked four members of family, indulging his minor son, to death at Bhimpur tribal village in Panchbibi Upazila of the district early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Sumon’s mother-on-law Rani Hasda, 45, his six-year-old son Sunny Hembrom, sister-in-law Tereza Marandi, 23, his wife’s uncle Markel Marandi, 50,.
Police and family sources said that Sumon’s wife Silvia had an extra marital affair for long. After failure to prevent her to do so, Sumon informed her family members. However, they had been indulging Silvia instead of opposing her to do so.
Angered over family’s stance, Sumon hacked his wife, son, mother-on-law, a relative, and sister-in-law around 3:30am with a machete when they were sleeping.
Only Silvia survived the brutal attack. She was undergoing treatment at Panchbibi Upazila Health Complex.
Police recovered the bodies and sent to the Zila Adunidk Hospital for autopsy.
Confirming the matter, Panchbibi Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abu Hena Mostafa told banglanews initially they came to know that the killings occurred over the issue of extra marital affair.
