DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.

According the marine warning bulletin, the depression over North West bay and adjoining west central bay moved slightly west northwestward.

It was centred at Saturday midnight about 805 kms west-southwest of Chittagong port, 775 kms west-southwest of Cox’s bazar port, 620 kms southwest of Mongla port and 650 kms southwest of Payra port (near lat 18.70 n and long 85.50 e).

Under its influence, steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay, says the bulletin issued by met office.

Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports. It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction further.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

According to Inland Riverport Warning, in association with rain or thundershowers accompanied by tempo.

Southeast or southerly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s bazar, wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two.

Rain thundershowers accompanied by tempo. Southeast or southerly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
