Myanmar to return Nayek Razzaq on condition

COX’S BAZAR: Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar on Monday has given condition to return abducted Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member Nayek Abdur Razzaq.

BGP said they would return the BGB member if Bangladesh accepts 555 migrants out of 727 rescued by Myanmar Navy from sea on May 29. BGP claimed the 555 people are Bangladeshis.

Cox’s Bazar BGB-42 Commander Abu Jar Al Zahid confirmed the matter to banglanews in the evening.

He further said he talked to BGP-2 commander Lieutenant Colonel Chan Hlaing several times over the mobile phone. “Chan said of the rescued 727 people, 555 are from Bangladesh and they would give back Nayek Razzaq if we accept the 555 people,” he added.

Zahid also said he told Chan that these are two separate incidents.

He also will talk to Chan Hlaing on Tuesday and expected to resolve the matter quickly.

Foreign ministries of both countries have been discussing the matter.
