DHAKA: Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar has agreed to return abducted Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member Nayek Abdur Razzaq “unconditionally”.
Defence attaché of Bangladesh to Myanmar Brigadier General Md. Mahbubul Haque informed the matter to BGB director general Major General Aziz Ahmed after holding a meeting with home ministry officials of Myanmar Monday evening.
BGB director general confirmed the matter through a message to media in the night.
He said Myanmar home ministry said they would return Nayek Razzaq “unconditionally” with his personal arms with due respect.
Earlier in the night, however, Cox’s Bazar BGB-42 Commander Abu Jar Al Zahid that BGP has given condition to return BGB member Nayek Abdur Razzaq, who was abducted on June 17 from Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
BGP said they would return the BGB member if Bangladesh accepts 555 migrants out of 727 rescued by Myanmar Navy from Andaman sea on May 29.
BGP claimed the 555 people were victims of human trafficking were Bangladeshis, without checking on their nationality.
