DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the 67th founding anniversary of ruling Awami League (AL).

The premier placed floral wreaths at his portrait at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi in the morning. She also released balloons and pigeons on the occasion.

Senior AL leaders including Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Syed Ashraful Islam, Matia Chowdhury and Mahbubul Alam Hanif and leaders of several AL associate organizations were also present at the program.

AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam told the media that Awami League has been moving forward with a tradition of 66 years. ‘Our aim is to establish ‘Sonar Bangla’ materializing the dreams of Bangabandhu’, he said.

‘We are working to reach the goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,’ he added.
