DHAKA: Finally, a flag meeting between Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is going to be held on Thursday over the repatriation of abducted Nayek Abdur Razzak.
BGP has sent a letter to BGB on Tuesday afternoon, seeking list to Bangladesh delegation to hold flag meeting.
BGB and Foreign Ministry sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.
On the other hand, Myanmar refuted to set any condition to repatriate Nayek Razzak.
Myanmar President’s spokesperson and also information minister Ye Htut said that his country did not set any condition to return Razzak.
BGB member Abdur Razzak will be released soon through a flag meeting between two countries, Ye Htut added.
Earlier Myanmar said along with the BGB man, Bangladesh would have to take in 555 victims of human trafficking, who were rescued from Myanmar coast.
Later, Myanmar has agreed to return abducted Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member Nayek Abdur Razzaq “unconditionally”.
Earlier on June 17, the Myanmar Border police shot BGB man ‘Biplob’ and took another BGB trooper Razzak away after a shootout in the Naf River along the border.
Following the incident, the foreign ministry summoned Myanmar’s ambassador to Dhaka and asked him for action to return BGB member.
