DHAKA: For this year, fitra has been fixed at minimum Tk 60 per person in the country ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
Islamic Foundation finalized the amount in a fitra fixing committee meeting at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in city on Wednesday.
Dwini Dawat Department director of Islamic Foundation AMM Sirajul Islam chaired the meeting, attended by Dhaka Alia Madrasah principal Sirajuddin Ahmed, Dhaka University professor Dr Abdullah Al Maruf, Bangladesh Imam Samiti joint secretary general Mufti Shaikh Osman, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior pesh imam Mufti Mizanur Rahman and pesh imam Mahibullah Al Baki, among others.
However, they also fixed fitra at Tk 1,650 as maximum amount for a person.
The Sadqatul Fitra has been fixed in accordance with the market prices of commodities including wheat, flour, chease and others.
According to the Shariah, eligible Muslims are asked to pay fitra to the poor people during Eid-ul-Fitr so that they can buy their necessary things during the festival.
